Just finished reading the ECAR study of undergraduate students and information technology conducted in 2013. I have been following this survey for years and was influenced by both their methodology and questions for a similar survey we conducted in 2011 here at Sydney TAFE.

The results of this survey are very interesting and a timely reminder for TAFE NSW just how important blended learning is to our customers and in our drive for the fully online market we should not loose sight of just how valuable our blended learning is to our business.

Also interesting was that students had little knowledge of MOOCS and scoffed at the idea when told it would be un-facilitated and up to 50,000 other students in the course.

Student indifference to analytics was also interesting, although it is early days in this area but shows that institutions have to demonstrate the value to their customers and not just assume it what they want.

Anyway I recommend giving it a read and welcome any discussion on it’s findings.
